18 Nov How to Stay Safe this Fall Season
The first official day of the Fall Season has already come and gone, but in North Carolina you never know what to expect with the weather. With the cooler temperatures approaching in October and November months it is the time when the leaves begin to change color, the mornings are getting a bit colder, and the nights are getting a bit shorter. Here at Spivey Insurance Group, we understand that the seasonal shift means there could be new hazards and we wanted to make sure to keep your family and children safe. Here is some advice to make sure you can enjoy the fall season and keep your family worry free.
The fall season is here and we want to make sure you and your family are ready for some preparation. It has not been your average fall temperatures these past several weeks, but we know it is inevitable that the cold weather is quickly approaching. We recommend to just keep a spare jacket/sweater in your car for a backup plan. If you are a parent, we also recommend you check the weather daily before you get your kids ready for school. You want to make sure they are dressed appropriately for the weather. If you or your kids are exposed to cold weather there is a more likely chance of getting sick.
Also, the change in the weather will also affect the road conditions. There can be damp and foggy mornings that can make the roads slippery. Since it is getting darker in the evenings earlier, you need to make sure if you are traveling at night to check your headlights. This will not only affect yourself, but other drivers too.
During the fall months, this is when the flu season begins to rapidly increase. This is the perfect time to get you and your kids the vaccinations you need. There are also daily steps you can take as well to help prevent the spread of germs too. Some include washing your hands regularly, avoiding touching your nose, mouth, and eyes, and be sure to clean and disinfect surfaces if someone nearby is sick. If you do catch a cold or have flu like symptoms, we recommend that you visit your doctor.
