02 Apr Let’s Celebrate Autism Awareness Day!
For this week’s blog, we want to highlight National Autism Awareness Month and Autism Awareness Day, which is today, April 2. Since the 1970s, The Autism Society of America has worked to spread awareness and promote acceptance of those on the spectrum. In honor of National Autism Awareness Month, we’re learning more about people with autism and using #CelebrateDifferences to spread awareness. We hope you will too! You can visit https://www.autismawarenessmonth.org to learn more about autism and discover ways to promote positive change.
It’s important to understand how both children and adults with autism communicate and interact with others differently. People on the autism spectrum comprise a huge segment of the population. According to The Autism Society, 1 in 59 children in the United States have autism. It’s the fastest growing developmental disorder in the United States. Even if you don’t think you know someone personally who has autism, chances are you’ve interacted with people on the spectrum on many occasions. If you’ve ever eaten at Your GG’s Kitchen, you’ve supported a business that employs several people with autism.
We’ve provided insurance to Your GG’s Kitchen for years. We love working with them! They’re wonderful, kind-hearted people who value the unique gifts of those on the autism spectrum and are proud to work with them to serve amazing food to our community. It’s also so heartwarming to see how much they love and appreciate their son (and dessert tester) Bobby. They see him as an amazing kid who just happens to have autism. You will frequently see Bobby on their social media. He’s pictured here for this blog.
Supporting our local community by patronizing its small businesses is so important right now with this ongoing pandemic. We encourage you to order from Your GG’s Kitchen which is still open for takeout and delivery! You’ll be helping some amazing people get through a rough patch along with getting some delicious grub.
Please join us in celebrating Autism Awareness Day and thanking Your GG’s Kitchen for the great work they do. For more information about the great local businesses we insure at Spivey Insurance Group, connect with us on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn or Pinterest.
