27 Dec New Year’s Eve Safety
As we ring in 2018 in just a few days, it is important to remember safety. New Year’s Eve is considered to be one of the most dangerous nights in the year. We know this is fun and exciting night for a lot of our clients, but Spivey Insurance wants to protect you in any way we can for a safe night with family and friends. Here are just a few tips on ringing in the New Year.
Travel with a Group. If you are going with a group of friends it will be easier to and from your destination and a lot safer to travel with numbers.
Arrange a Ride. Be sure to arrange for a ride to and from your destination to avoid drinking and driving. Uber and Lyft are great ride sharing apps that you are able to split the costs. You can also request a cab or get a friend or family member to be the designated driver. Never get in a car with a driver who has been drinking.
Be Alert. If you’re going out to a public place or a party, be aware of your surroundings. It’s easy to get distracted and separated from your friends. Keep an eye on your drink, your belongings, and the people you came with to avoid any trouble.
Although you may not be drinking and driving, you could be fatally hit on the road by someone that is. Consider adding an umbrella insurance policy to your auto insurance plan. An umbrella policy will help contribute to extra fees like legal fees if you were to fall into an expensive lawsuit. Also look over your auto insurance policy to make sure it covers bodily injury liability, property damage liability, and personal injury protection. Uninsured and under-insured motorist is key when someone hits you that either doesn’t have insurance nor has it but not enough to cover your accident or medical bills.
