How to stay safe this New Years Eve

As we ring in 2016 in just a few days, it is important to remember safety. New Years Eve is considered to be one of the most dangerous nights in the year. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, 41% of car accidents during the New Year holiday involve alcohol or drugs. This is significantly higher than the average 31 percent throughout the year. With stating the facts, it is important to be up-to-date on your car insurance policy as we enter 2016.
Although you may not be drinking and driving, you could be fatally hit on the road by someone that is. Consider adding an umbrella insurance policy to your auto insurance plan. An umbrella policy will help contribute to extra fees like legal fees if you were to fall into an expensive lawsuit. Also look over your auto insurance policy to make sure it covers bodily injury liability, property damage liability, and personal injury protection.
When celebrating the New Year, remember that one standard drink is about .6 ounces of alcohol. Even a drink (1 beer, 1 glass of wine, or 1 shot of liquor) is more than the standard drink. Even buzzed driving is drunk driving. If you have any questions about your auto insurance policy, call Spivey Insurance Group at 704-821-4460.
