Charlotte: 4th of July Festival at U.S. National Whitewater Centre on July 3 and 4. Live music, cornhole tournament and fireworks. Event runs from 3:30 to dusk on Wednesday and 2 to dusk Thursday.

Carowinds: 9:30 p.m. Fireworks!

Matthews: Activities begin at 5:30 p.m. on the Town Green, followed by a parade and concert.

Waxhaw: Parade, beach party and fireworks in downtown Waxhaw – all day event from 10-sundown

Monroe: Fireworks! 9:30 p.m., following 7 p.m. festival at Belk-Tonawanda Park.

Oakboro: Fireworks! 11:30 p.m., at end of 4th of July Celebration, downtown area.

Lake Wylie: Fireworks! 9:15 p.m., at Buster Boyd Bridge, N.C.-S.C. 49.
