Conduct Effective Employee Evaluations with NC Business Insurance

As a business owner, you have many responsibilities. You have to motivate your employees, keep your business protected with NC business insurance, and network with potential clients. Another important responsibility is to provide feedback to employees about how they’re doing on the job. This can be a difficult and stressful task, but we’ve compiled a few tips to help!

  • Make sure your employee knows his job description and knows exactly what he is being evaluated against. Also create an evaluation form that allows for “grading” each responsibility.
  • Give the employee a blank evaluation form. Have him evaluate himself truthfully.
  • Set up a private place to meet, at a time when you know neither of you will be interrupted.
  • At the start of the meeting, outline your goals. Explain to the employee that these evaluations will be given to every employee as a way to offer constructive feedback, and to receive feedback from employees.
  • Go over the evaluation form with the employee, explaining how you think he is doing at each aspect of his job. Offer ways in which he can improve. Also praise the employee for things he is doing well.
  • At the end of the meeting, ask the employee if he has any feedback for you. Remember, this meeting is not just for you to evaluate your employee. It also serves as a way for you to receive constructive feedback and improve your own leadership techniques.

Conducting effective employee evaluations can be daunting, but they can help both you and your employees improve. Don’t forget to also evaluate your NC business insurance. If your business has changed recently, you may need to edit your policy to make sure every part of your business is protected!
