Flying this Holiday Season? Stay safe with Charlotte Insurance!

The holiday season means travel, and lots of it! If you’re flying this season, there are some things to keep in mind to stay safe during your trip. Before you leave, check with your Charlotte insurance agency to verify your health coverage, and make sure you have your agent’s contact information with you at all times. Here are a few other tips to consider:

  • Protect your health. Airports and airplanes are a breeding ground for germs, especially during the flu season. Carry alcohol-based hand sanitizer and disinfecting wipes with you at all times. Wash your hands as often as possible, and use hand-sanitizer when soap and hot water are not available. Before and during your trip, consider taking vitamin supplements to boost your immune system. Don’t forget to get enough sleep and drink plenty of water – two easy things you can do to help your immune system do its job.
  • Protect your family. It can be easy for families to get split up in airports, especially during the busy holiday season. When you get to the airport, designate an area where you’ll all meet if you get separated. Make sure young children know to go to a trustworthy adult if they get lost, like someone in uniform. If your child is too young to know your name or phone number, write this information on a piece of paper and stick it in your son or daughter’s pocket or shoe. Also avoid writing your child’s name on their luggage or clothing – it can be easy for someone to call his or her name and lure your child away.
  • Protect your belongings. The best thing you can do to avoid losing your luggage: never leave it! It may be annoying, but take your luggage with you everywhere – to the bathroom, to get a coffee, to walk to the trash can to throw something away. Also store your most important items, like your ID and credit cards, in your pockets. Keep other important items, including gifts for family members, in your carry-on. You don’t want to lose important things if your checked luggage is lost!

Follow the tips above to make sure everyone and everything stays safe. Traveling is always stressful, but by verifying your Charlotte insurance coverage, you can alleviate some of that stress! Safe travels!
