23 May Events in the Charlotte Area to Honor Memorial Day
May 27th is Memorial Day. Honoring those who serve and those who have served in our armed forces shows patriotism and respect for our nation. Our great community has several events that show how passionate our area is about recognizing our service men and women.
Listed below is a list of events in different parts of the community for you and your family to attend and honor our brave men and women who have and are protecting us.
Matthews Memorial Day Ceremony. Matthews American Legion Post 235 will present the Annual Matthews Memorial Day. Ceremony in Stumptown Park. Local war dead will be remembered and honored; a new veterans sculpture will be unveiled in the park; and Matthews Elementary Teacher of the Year, sponsored by Post 235, will be recognized by Town Mayor and Commissioner
Mint Hill Madness. Friday, May 24th, through Sunday, May 26th. This festival features a parade, carnival, live music and kids’ activities. Admission is free. Rides, and some other activities, do have costs.
Carowinds Military Days. Sunday, May 26th, and Monday, May 27th. Active, inactive or retired United States Service men and women with a valid military I.D. can get into Carowinds for free.
Support our servicemen and women and celebrate our nations accomplishments! It’s great to be citizens of the United States of America and to be members of such a fantastic community!
