July Is Women’s Motorcycle Month. You May Qualify For A Motorcycle Insurance Discount At Spivey Insurance

July is the National Women’s Motorcycle Month. It must be because I think this month I’ve seen more women riders than usual.

Motorcycles + Women = Fun.

There was a time not so long ago that it was a rare sighting to see the ladies actually driving a motorcycle. These days it’s more and more common and the ladies seem to be having a blast.

If you have ever been to Myrtle Beach, SC during “Bike Week” you would literally see hundreds of ladies riding every type of motorcycle imaginable 24/7 during the week. I have a sneaky feeling that a lot of women who may travel to this event as a rider, come back the following year as a driver on their very own motorcycle.

Right now there are estimates that there are around 4.3 million women riders in the US. These women are inspiring other women to hit the open road and get their motors running.

Learning to ride for a man or a woman is a little bit of a process that is important if you are considering riding a motorcycle. The #1 recommendation I make to prospective riders is to first take a motorcycle safety course. They are easy to find in the area and a lot of dealers either offer them or they can point you in the right direction.

You can also check with your motorcycle insurance provider to find out if they offer any discounts if you have passed a motorcycle safety course. At Spivey Insurance it’s possible to get a discount on your Charlotte motorcycle insurance if you already have multiple policies with us. Don’t worry, we’ll check for you when the time comes. Our quotes are free and only takes a few minutes.

I have a friend who took the course a few years ago and she tells me that it actually made her a better driver in her car as well as being a motorcycle driver. The favorite thing she learned was to watch the wheel of cars who are stopped and you are approaching them. You can’t trust looking at the driver. Always watch the wheels because if you see them move as you are approaching you can be ready to take defensive actions that may save your life.

If you have made the decision to hit the road and join the ranks of female riders, we hope you have a lot of fun. Have fun, be safe and protect yourself with the right equipment and insurance coverage.

Hey, send us some pics of you on your bike and we’ll post them on our Spivey Insurance Facebook Page.
