17 Jun Keeping Your Business Safe During Storms
The past couple of weeks have been very eventful with powerful storms moving through our local area. As the temperatures, soar so does the chance of that energetic storm cell popping up at any given time.
Here are a few things you can do to keep you and your business secure!
-Make sure you have a crisis communication plan before the storm begins. Even if the storm isn’t expected to hit your area of business directly, it’s always a good idea to have this part of the plan activated to ensure reliable communications in the event of adverse conditions. Designate and train a team within your company to direct prestorm, storm and post-storm activity.
-Back up all data on servers and/or personal computers or laptops.
-Make plans to work remotely if power is out at the office. Make sure communication lines are open between managers and employees.
-Have at least one working analog phone. If a power outage occurs, digital and electrical phones will not work.
-Protect your electronics with surge protection devices.
-Create a storm tool kit for the office that includes supplies such as flashlights, batteries, a battery-powered radio, first-aid kit and food and water.
-Make sure you are insured! It’s easier to file a claim than to spend excess money that you could’ve saved if you were insured properly. We specialize in NC Business Insurance.
