Learn More About National Bullying Prevention Month

National Bullying Prevention Month is celebrated during the month of October and helps to unite the community around us. This month allows the community to become educated and raise awareness of bullying prevention. One out of five children across the United States have been affected by bullying. Here at Spivey Insurance Group we want to make sure your child knows how to say no to bullies and how to help if a bullying situation would occur.

Bullying can threaten students’ physical and emotional safety at school. The best way to address bullying is to stop it before it starts. Here are some tips on how to teach your child about bullying:

  1. Research on how children should respond
  2. Discussions about bullying
  3. Classroom meetings
  4. Creative writing or drawing

Bullying is more common than most people think, whether it be physical abuse or even emotional abuse. Some major signs of bullying include:

  1. Lower grades
  2. Becoming withdrawn
  3. Depression

If you know a child that is being bullied the first step is to keep the communication lines open. During stressful situations like this, stay strong and make sure you always think of the child first. Spivey Insurance Group is here to protect you and your family during difficult times. Join us on October 25th by wearing orange to show support for National Bullying Prevention.
