04 Mar March is Nutrition Month
Maybe you’ve stayed true to your new years resolutions or maybe you haven’t. Either way, eating well should be a goal throughout the whole year.
Just recently, the FDA (Food and Drug Administration) announced that the nutritional facts printed on products are going to undergo a makeover.
Some of these changes will show real world serving sizes. This will give a better idea about how much of something is in a portion that we as consumers usually eat or drink.
A USDA study released last month showed 42% of working-age adults between 29 and 68 looked at nutritional labels most or all of the time when shopping. In addition, 57% of Americans older than age 68 examine nutritional facts and labels before purchasing. That’s up from 2007, when 34% of working-age adults looked at the label, and 51% of Americans older than 68 did.
So, what does this mean? This means that FDA, and us as consumers have realized that its time to get serious about living healthier. Keep a lookout for those new labels that will be hitting the shelves soon!
Stayed tuned throughout March, as we will have healthier choices and ideas for you and your family!
