29 Jan Skiing and Snowboarding Safety Tips for NC Mountains
The past several weeks have been extremely cold in the Charlotte area. During these cold winter days it is hard to stay active. This will make a perfect opportunity to plan a trip to go up to the North Carolina mountains for the day or weekend to enjoy some outdoor winter fun. Here are some skiing and snowboarding tips to keep you safe on the slopes this winter.
Have the proper equipment. Make sure to have your ski and snowboard adjusted correctly. You are able to rent these at the ski lodge.
Buy the correct skiwear. Purchase clothing that is water and wind resistant. Make sure to have a lot of layers to adjust to your temperature. Have a hat, gloves, ski bibs, turtleneck, sweater, and jacket.
Wear a helmet. This will protect you in case you do have a hard fall on the slopes.
Always protect your eyes. Make sure to bring sunglasses and goggles with you. When it is a sunny day on the slopes it gets hard to see.
Take a lesson. If you have never skied or snowboarded before it is crucial that you take some type of class for guidance. They offer classes from an instructor at all major ski lodges in NC.
Watch out for others. The slopes can get very crowded, especially on the weekends. Make sure you continuously be a defensive skier and watch your surroundings. Make sure you pay close attention when you get on and off of the ski lift.
