01 Dec Take a Stand Against Driving While Impaired
December has been designated as impaired driving month. According to the National Highway Safety Administration, more than 30% of drivers involved in fatal crashes on weekends are alcohol-impaired. Also impaired drivers are four times likelier to crash at night than during the daytime. Impaired driving can put you in danger, but also other innocent drivers and passengers on the road. The risks and consequences of driving under the influence can be severe. Insurance rates can increase dramatically if you receive a DUI. The best way to avoid increased insurance premiums is simple; don’t ever get behind the wheel while intoxicated. In most states if a driver is charged with a DUI, then insurance rates are affected for at least three years.
Driving while under the influence is too risky. The most important thing is keeping the road as safe as possible. The stereotype of “I drive better drunk” is completely false. It is best to have a designated driver or call a cab. Avoid getting in the car with a driver that seems to be impaired. Never put yourself in a situation that you feel uneasy about. The holiday season is here and that means there will be plenty of opportunities to go to those holiday parties. Be sure to think twice before putting yourself or someone else in danger. Take a stand against impaired driving.
