Things You May Not Know About Union County, NC

I rely more on my feelings than statistics and I think that’s the way most of us operate. If I like something, I like it. No debate. I love where we live.

That’s how I’ve always felt about our little part of the world here in Union County, NC. Union County is a place that makes you feel like home.

Laid back and a feeling of pride, country and family. It’s nice to get away from time to time, but it always feels great to come back home.

We are lucky to live in such a beautiful place.

The great thing about Union County is the fact that we can experience everything that is modern and convenient but still are only a short drive from our past.

Beautiful farm land and country barns. A photographer could work in Union County and never run out of subjects and landscapes.

Of course we have modern shopping malls and the hustle and bustle of a big city but you can also visit our downtown and it’s as if you are stepping back in time.

Old architecture and the feeling of rich history.

Monroe, NC became a city in 1843. If you close your eyes and just daydream a little, you can almost see Model-T’s and men dressed in Top Hats. The ladies wearing long dresses and bonnets. A time when coming to town was an event.

Union County has always seemed to be prosperous. We are not immune to the twists and turns of the economy, but our little spot of the world seems to be able to weather conditions better than other parts of the country.

We are blessed with good schools and higher than normal graduation rates.

According to the U.S. Census, our county population is just over 201,000.

Females outnumber the males in Union County, NC. In 2010, the male population was estimated at 99,366 while the females were estimated at 101,926. A guy should be able to get a date right?

The largest part of our population is aged between 35 & 49 years of age. There are 50,837 people that fall into that group.

Here is a fact that is very important to those of us in the insurance business. In Union County, there is an estimated 72,870 housing units.

When you combine our population of over 200,000 and over 70,000 houses, Union County has been a great place for our insurance business, especially our North Carolina Homeowners Insurance.
